Slimona (Rimonabant) will be the name of diet drug acomplia/Zimulti/Remonabant in India which is launched by Zydus Cadila, an Indian manufacturer of generic drugs headed by one of the country's richest men.
Slimona (Rimonabant) will be used to cure of obesity in India.The weight loss pill is already on the market in European and Latin American countries while it is still awaiting authoritarian action in the United States.
Currently there is no information about how to sell generic version of Acomplia , Slimona (Rimonabant) in India by Zydus Cadila which probably will remain protected by patents for a number of years.
Dr. Ravindra Mittal, Medical Advisor and Head of Regulatory Affairs for Zydus Cadila said, “Considering the rapidly escalating incidence of obesity and the need for new anti-obesity therapies, Slimona will address the needs of family physicians, cardiologists, endocrinologists, gynaecs, diabetologists and other specialists, who have been looking for a way to have better control and management of obese and overweight patients."
