Diet Drug Acomplia May Reduce Liver Damage

A new research which was carried out on weight loss diet pill rimonabant by applying to the rat.The study pointed out that rimonabant is beneficial to reduce obesity-related liver damage which can result into cirhossis of the liver.


The research was done by a team which was led by Mohammed Bensaid of Sanofi-Aventis .

Diet pill rimonabant was given orally daily for 8 weeks and it is found that liver enlargement was reduced which decreased blood levels of enzyme markers that indicate liver damage.

This research brought out the potential clinical application for this CBI receptor antagonist in the treatment of liver diseases which is caused by obesity and the metabolic syndrome.
